Justin Li is a PNW-based artist working in multiple media, primarily oil painting. His paintings experiment with texture, distressing, and layering, often featuring limited value ranges. After spending the last several years working in a heavily abstract style, he is now transitioning towards figurative work. He is interested in conveying tension and emotions over perfect likenesses.
This year, Justin also explored other media, such as performance art, interactive art, and found objects. His work across media reflect on his experiences with relational distance, and defining the feeling of home in all its meanings – nationality and ethnicity, place and body.
